Pilgrims and Thanksgiving

I just love how these adorable Pilgrims turned out!  Each one is unique just like the child who created it.  :)
They are big... but I'm from Texas y'all!

For the writing they wrote about what they would take with them if they sailed on the Mayflower.  I just love Kindergarten writing.  Don't you?  The last one is my favorite!

My cat Zoe because she is sweet.

My American girl doll because I love her.

My Ellie because I love her so "mush".

And my favorite..... cock your head to the left.... I don't know why Blogger does this!  GRRR....

My granny's billy goat because she loves the billy goat.  But first I would have to find it.

Isn't that sweet?  She is thinking about her Granny instead of herself.  Children have the sweetest little hearts!

You can check out my Thanksgiving unit by clicking on the picture below.

P.S. If you are still waiting on the owl glyph to be added to my Owl unit I am so sorry!  My scanner quit working and they didn't have the one I wanted at Office Depot.  I ordered one and it will be here Friday!

  1. Where did you get the rope with clips that your Pilgrims are hanging from. I had one and now I've either lost it or thrown it away and can't find one anywhere.

  2. Diana, I bought it about 10 years ago at a Teacher's Supply store. :)

  3. These are adorable. Don't ya just love this time of year. They are so sweet about what they are thankful for.

  4. I LOVE your thanksgiving unit....only done one activity so far but plan to do more this week. :)

I just started my own TpT store and put a mini-unit on thanksgiving up and someone just bought it! My first sale! Thanks for inspiring me to create my own activities!

  5. We are loving your thanksgiving unit too! Looking forward to being in your class in a couple of weeks in Atlanta. :)

  6. Is there a pattern for the pilgrims in your unit?

  7. I am blown away by the kids' writing! I can read it, and there are spaces! Is this independent, or do you work on it with them as a small group?!

  8. I did your Mayflower writing activity and Pilgrims with my Kindergarten class last week, and it turned out so great! My kids had such a fun time doing it, and their adorable pilgrims really brighten up my classroom. Thank you so much for all of your wonderful ideas. This is my second year of teaching, and your blogs really inspire me. :)

  9. I bought your Thanksgiving unit and we have done a few things from it. We love it! Thanks for sharing your wonderful ideas!! :)

  10. Anonymous, I use parts of Lucy Calkins Units of Study program for writers workshop. The kids start "writing" the very first day of school. We've been working on stretching our words and recording the sounds we hear since mid September. The word because is on the word wall so they know that word wall words should be spelled correctly. Although, I'm sure you noticed that some of them sounded this word out rather than using the word wall. :)

  11. I love your site! Thanks for the great ideas. I'm sending you a blog award:

    Happy Thanksgiving,

  12. I just awarded you the Sunshine Award! I love your blog.

  13. I couldn't resist passing along the Sunshine Award to you. I had so much fun making the veteran soldier with my first graders and they loved you American Soldier song. They started singing it as they were walking down the hall to go home at the end of the day. It was so cute!
