Insects and a FREEBIE!

I  will admit that I was kind of sad for my spring break to end.  I LOVE being able to sleep in just a little bit and it is so much nicer to wake up without having an alarm clock buzzing in your ear.  But today we started one of my favorite units so that made going back to school a little easier.  :)

Here is how I plan out my unit.

We did a directed drawing of an insect and labeled the body parts.

You can download a free emergent reader by clicking on the picture below.

My goal this week is to make a daily post about what we did each day.  Y'all heard it here.  You see it in writing.  If I don't do it.... Kick my butt!  Seriously!!  My blog has been so neglected that when I tried to sign in it kept saying,  Who the heck are you???  :)
I promise.  every day.  this week.  Who knows?  Maybe I will be able to do it next week too.
Shoo!  I better wait and see how I do this week before I make that kind of a promise.  :)

  1. awww thanks! I love your posts! I used your insect book last year. I had a HUGE insect loving 10 days worth of activities, my kids got a real kick out of the creepy crawly creatures, especially since they KNOW I do not like insects in any way shape or manner ....

  2. We just started your insect unit today! My kiddos are super into it already.

  3. Thanks for the freebie! I am staring your insect unit next week. I love teaching it!

  7. *when you were teaching it. (Ha...I am tired as it was my first day back from spring break too).

  8. SO many fun things to do this time of year and the kiddos love learning about insects. I too was sad to see my break come to an end..

  9. Thanks for the cute freebie! I am starting my insect unit next week.

  10. We started back today after Spring Break (extended by a snow day and a half beforehand) so I can completely relate to the enjoyment that sleeping in does to the soul! I only woke up twice by the alarm. Once for church and once to get my hair colored. ;) Priorities, right?! Thank you for the emergent reader! By the way, if you don't end up posting each day, you can always use April Fool's Day as your back-up excuse. Hee, hee!

  11. You are just 100 kinds of amazing! If I was a stalker, I would drive many, many miles to hunt you down at your school BUT I would bring you Sonic Diet Cokes. =)

You are amazing Deanna. Thank you for being such an inspiration to me.

I have a really fun game for spelling/Word Study that involves bugs/insects. Let me know if your are interested and I will send it your way. =)

  12. Love that buggy reader. Can't wait to use it with my kinders. And love your blog. There is a time a season for everything and if you don't get to the blog it's just not the "season". Be kind to yourself.
