  3. This is really cute! I would love to use this form my pre-k class. I did notice one mistake though. On the printable bus page, it says, the wheels on the bug, instead of bus. Could you correct that?

  18. Thanks for sharing the class book page! I actually purchased your Math-Literacy Fun with Names last spring and am quite excited to use it to start off the new year. Quick question... what do you do for students whose name begins with a vowel like Aidan or Emily? (for the bus page ____ umpity ___ ump)

    1. This is meant to be a silly song so you will still sing it the same way. The wheels on Ava's bus go Aumpity Aump with the long A sound. For Asher it would be the short a sound Aumpity Aump. For names that start with a digraph if it would sound something like this, The wheels on Sharrod's bus go Shumpity Shump. Hope that helps! :)

  21. I too have a lot of A's and E's and I's...any ideas?
    Love the idea.

  30. Love it! We play with sound substitution all of the time. Our K5 still uses Open Court to teach phonics and it is packed with phonemic awareness activities for K5. I can't wait to use this with our kids as we work with concepts of print over the next few weeks.

  31. This is one of my favorite songs to play with with kids names, looking forward to making it into a book this year, I have done it on chart paper before and on the smartboard. Always fun to change things up!

  32. As always Deanna, another fun resource to use in the classroom. Thank you for sharing!!!

  33. Love it and the kinders will, too. Have you seen the bus "cooking" activity?? Each munchkin gets a full graham cracker, 4 mini oreo cookies and a small bit of white icing to stir & color yellow. Ice the graham with yellow icing and put on 4 oreo bus wheels...a perfect compliment to your excellent activity. Can't wait to do it this week! Thanks for the fun class book. We do your Bippity Boppity Bumble Bee, too, when we introduce clapping parts in words - another class favorite!

  39. Where can we find the typed out words to the Wheels on the Bus rhyme to make the poster you show above? I have the Fun With Names unit but I just checked and it isn't in there either... can you point me in the right direction? If it is already typed out, I don't want to reinvent the wheel... thanks!
