Helpful Hints

Today's Theme on Blog Hoppin'  is Helpful Hints!

Most classrooms are small and lack proper storage space and let's face it.  Teachers have A LOT of stuff!
I use fabric runners to hide all of my stuff under tables and counter tops.  Simply use strong velcro to hold the fabric in place.

I also love these little ottoman's from Walmart.  They are perfect for the Littles to sit on during Guided Reading and they hold all of the things we use during our small group instruction.

Store student materials in CLEAR, Labeled containers.
Students who are non readers are able to easily find the materials that they need.

I love this visual to help students keep track of time.  If we have 30 minutes for centers I can set the timer and the kids can easily see when time is almost up.  You can choose from a variety of images.  Set the time and voila!  You have a cutie patootie timer!

Have a Helpful Hint?  Link up!  We would love to hear all about it.  :)

    1. I agree with you about designing the schools. We are in a new school and I wonder who on Earth thought of this or that and "why" it was put where it was put or even "why" we don't have, etc.

  3. I love the timer cool! :)
    Just Reed!

  9. What is the name of the adorable timer website? I would love to use this for my centers!!! :) Thank you for sharing!

  10. I didnt think it was possible, but I actually have the opposite problem! My classroom was newly remodeled this summer, and it's ALL drawers and cabinets! No bulletin board to display my students' work. No wall space to hang posters. Don't misunderstand me, I love my new space, but jeez! The ratio of storage to creative space is ALL wrong for this kindergarten-teacher-at-heart. I may have to hang things from the ceiling!

  11. Great storage ideas! Love the visitimer. I already downloaded and I think the kiddos are gonna love it. Thanks so much for sharing all your great ideas!

  12. I can't even begin to tell you how much I appreciate this post. I will be using this in the morning. I use a great deal of visuals in my classroom, including a Judy clock. However, I have a particularly difficult situation this year and the clock isn't cutting it. I can use my projector to put this on the screen. It will be large and everyone will see it. Thank you for sharing. :)

  13. I love that timer idea! So cute! And I love using fabric to hide things! Thanks for sharing! :)
