Get Ready! Book Talk Tuesday starts next week!

Starting next Tuesday and every Tuesday after that it's a new linky series.... We LOVE Books!
Each Tuesday I will introduce you to a book that I really love.  If you are a blogger I hope that you will consider linking up and sharing books with us as well.  The books can be children's books, PD books, or an adult read that you are enjoying.  No limits!  Just use the button above to link back to my blog and get ready to link up.  :)

I LOVE books!  Books of all kinds.  Children's books, Professional Development books,  books that make me fall in love with the characters and make me wish the story would never end.  I SERIOUSLY have a book obsession.  In fact, I think I'd rather buy books than shoes or clothes.  :)

Classrooms should have at least one library where the students can access books and fall in love with reading.   If you don't have a classroom library I strongly encourage you to set one up.
In my teeny tiny classroom I had two different spots that were filled with children's books.
You can bulk up your classroom library by asking family and friends to donate all of their used books to you.  The ones that don't belong in your classroom can be traded in at a used bookstore.
Thrift stores and garage sales are another great place to purchase books.
The important thing is to start building your classroom library one book at a time!

I want my Littles to look forward to reading a book as much as they look forward to watching TV or playing a video game.  Instilling the love of books starts with us!

  7. This sounds great. I know I have more books than shoes. The funny thing is.. I am a bilingual speech/language pathologist exclusively doing diagnostics (NOT therapy) and I continue to buy children's books. Call me crazy! I haven't started blogging yet either but this is inspiring me to get on the blogging bandwagon. Gloria www.manitasinmotion.com

    1. There is just something about children's books! I could spend all day in Barnes & Noble and never leave the children's section! :)

  9. I can't wait for this! I LOVE books. I use a used book site called abe books. They have so many books and most are under $4 with free shipping. I hope it is OK to share. It doesn't benefit me, but I just have shared it with many teachers who didn't know about it. My almost 12YO has asked for the entire Narnia series for his bday. I found all of them on that site in hardcover. They are former library books and I'm so excited. I will definitely link up! I have a LIBRARY in my house. :D It is where we do school most days as well, but it is FULL of books, most I purchased used like you suggested!

I am also working on my 10 Things This Summer post. I need to motivated to blog again and you have some great things here to motivate me Deanna! I cannot wait to meet you at the TpT conference!!! I think we might be about the same height! ;)

    2. Deanna, how in the world do you find time to reply to all of your comments? I notice you do this at your store too! You are such a great example to follow!

I'm glad I told you about the site. I have used it for a couple of years and have never had an issue. It is abebooks.com. If you sign up for their e-blast, you will get coupon codes often too with % off savings usually.

I am signed up for your session in Vegas, and I cannot wait to go to all of the sessions! TpT has changed my life in many ways, but one of the huge ways is to be able to learn from other educators such as yourself and be inspired to be a better teacher myself!
