Lesson Plans Week One: Peek at My Week

I'm linking up with my sweet friend, Deedee Wills to share my lesson plans.
PLEASE NOTE:  I don't put brain breaks and music and movement in my lesson plans because there isn't room.  However,  we stop and take a brain break about every 25 minutes.
Kids NEED to move and it is so important to make sure that you are giving them opportunities to do so.
You can click on the picture above to download my plans.
Anything in blue is hyperlinked to the resource it belongs to on TPT.

The plans for the first few weeks are always different than they are for the rest of the year.
For example,  during Reader's Workshop we don't normally do crafts and such.  However, the kids won't have very much reading stamina yet so we don't spend as much time reading as they will later in the year.
Often times a lesson won't take as long as I'd planned.  We fill our spare minutes with read alouds and brain breaks.

Here are a few pics from previous posts to show you what some of these things look like.

Have a great week!

  1. I love your plans Deanna! What will you have the kids talk about when you teach them how to turn and talk on Tuesday morning? I plan on using your Chit Chiat this year in place of morning message time and can't wait!

  3. Thanks so much for sharing this! Quick question- what song do you play for the transition to the rug in the am?

    1. I have several transition songs and chants that I sing. I teach them one song and then when they know it and know it well I add another one to to our transition toolbox. I use songs and chants for just about every transition we have. I can't sing a lick but the kids don't know the difference. :)

  5. Deanna, do you do your own graphic work? I love the image you have of yourself and I am looking to get one to really beef up my blog which I haven't used in about a year. I had the name of someone and lost it.thanks for your help. And I love just about everything you create. How you find the time is BEYOND me. I am trying to but I really need a graphics art class in order to really make things a lot more appealing. Thanks so much for all you share!

    1. Click on the box that says "Lesson Plans Week One" with the cute cartoon of Deanna, not on the photo of her plans. It will bring you to her full size plans!

  7. Deanna,
Is there a way to get a file of your "Week One Lesson Plans", both two pages, editable. I like the grid/layout. Thank you
