February Guiding Readers Book List

Happy Thursday, Y'all!  We've had a lot of requests for the book list for the February unit.
Each month will usually include 4 books but for February we are including a 5th book for our friends who aren't Americans and don't study Abraham Lincoln.  :)

I'm including the Amazon links below as well as the links to 4 of the books online.
I'm including the online books so that you can preview them.
You will still want to purchase the books or check them out from the library if you don't already have them, because many of the lessons require you to look closely at a certain page or illustration.

This book is available on YouTube

We also found this book on YouTube

This is the only book that we weren't able to find an online version of.

This book is also available on YouTube and it has great sound effects!

This book is available on YouTube but some of the pictures look  a little fuzzy.

If  you have book suggestions that you would love for us to include for other units please feel free to leave us a comment below!

  1. Great pack! It is wonderful. I have a suggestion. Perhaps you could include QR codes for each story (with safety share) for the students to use on their iPads.

  2. I am LOVING the January pack. The only thing I would add would be a quick comprehension assessment for the text.

  3. When will this pack be available?

    1. Hi Diane, It will be available no later than January 17th. Thanks so much!

  4. I am loving these packs! Thank you for letting us know the books for February so I can start planning!

As far as other books, it would be nice to have something weather related this spring, maybe Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs? And something plant/flower related in maybe April. I would like to see some non-fiction units too! Thanks again for all y'all do!

    1. Thanks for the suggestions, Katy! We really appreciate it. :)

  5. I love the January unit! My students are much more focused and excited about the stories than when I stick to our basal series. I would suggest some more comprehension questions as we are asked to do a "close read" with each text.
    Thanks for all you do!

  6. Our Kindergarten team has been love love LOVING the January unit. We like how you choose books that are popular and that most teachers may already have. They also fit along with our weekly themes in Kindergarten so well. Thank you so much for all of your hard work. Can't wait to continue using these!

Here are some theme/book suggestions for March/April.
Dr. Seuss (Is that even possible? Maybe Horton Hears a Who or The Lorax?) Dinosaurs, St. Patrick's Day, Spring, Frogs (a Froggy book), Farm/Chicks, Weather, and Plants (Tops and Bottoms would be a great pick:))

Thanks again for all of your hard work! You ladies Rock!
